Boston's TD Garden has been integral to the city's recent decade of dominance in professional sports. Boston's NBA franchise, the Boston Celtics, hoisted their league leading 17th World Championship banner to the Garden rafters in 2008, while the venerated Boston Bruins, Beantown's charter NHL club, won their sixth Stanley Cup Championship in 2011.
TD Garden - known affectionately as The Garden - is located at 100 Legends way in the city's northern downtown district. The arena is perfectly situated in the middle of three iconic Boston neighborhoods: Beacon Hill, the North End and the Waterfront, making it an easy stop on your Beantown tour. Construction on The Garden was completed in 1995, replacing the original Boston Garden arena complex, which stood on the same site for nearly 70 years.
The ground floor is also home to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authorities North Station, which provides railroad access to northern Massachusetts.
In addition to playing host to the best in basketball and ice hockey action, the Garden also features an expansive annual calendar of concerts, ice-skating events, conventions and other sporting events.
The arena is also home to the New England Sports Museum, an expansive exhibition space featuring photography, memorabilia and informative displays documenting the city of Boston's diverse sporting history, inclusive of both the Celtics and Bruins and the region's other beloved franchises, the baseball Red Sox and American football New England Patriots.
Whether your visit to Boston takes place during a game event or not, the Garden is worth visiting. The pedestrian friendly neighborhood is home to several restaurants specializing in everything from game-day fare to fine New England seafood cuisine. The arena is also just a ten-minute walk from the hundreds of shops and restaurants located at Faneuil Hall marketplace.
